magic sight permissions;

Alucard possesses an ability that allows him to see magic as it exists in the world. The form it takes in his vision consists of auras (blobs/halos of color) and threads. The mods answered general questions of what elemental magic colors should look like here. They have answered me in regards to what Alucard sees as the source of someone's magic ( the question was whether the tattoos replicate magic or just unlock someone's natural abilities ) here.

This post is to give permission or specifically deny permission for Alucard to see these things on your character. As mentioned in the link above, some characters may have dulled, faded, or obscured colors. This will also act as a handy reference for me.

Auras: It's assumed that every living thing has an aura to them since life itself is kind of magical. And undead themselves exist by some sort of force. So even if the person can't cast any magic themselves, their life force might be represented in some color and pattern. You can think of this as a character's energy signature, soul, etc. This aura color does not shift with things like mood; it should be as constant, unique, and recognizable to Alucard as something like the person's face ( which might mean shapeshifters and those that use glamours can still be identified ).

Threads: Threads are specifically magic that has the potential to be cast or is being cast. Typically people who have the ability to cast magic have threads projecting/trailing out of them or swirling around them. Something inherently magical like a dragon would probably have a strong aura but not threads unless it can cast spells. A person with magical potential would still have threads, they just might be more slight or tangled up.

Example 1: Non-magical person. Aura is smears of glittering gold that shift about their person.

Example 2: Magical person. Threads are a bright, spring green representing their wind magic.

Example 3: Magical person. Aura is blue/green of an elemental magician. Threads are a combo of the three elements they are able to weild: wind = green, water = midnight blue, earth = sand (This is Alucard's)

Example 4: Magical person. Aura is oil slick black. Threads are iridescent silver. The threads are tangled up into a knot above their head because they have not yet learned how to wield their magic.

Magical Items: Items that are enchanted look to Alucard like they've had a tapestry woven around their physical form. Given enough time, he can discern what manner of magic they can do and maybe even who enchanted the item.

FORM

Player Name: Your name. No need to do this more than once if you're posting multiple characters in the same comment.

Muse Name: Character name
Journal: Journal username

Aura: Is this character a spellcaster? Inherently magical in some way? What colors would be associated with their general person/soul? Is there any particular pattern to it or anywhere color would concentrate?

Thread Color(s): What color is the magic they cast? What color threads might drift off them even when they aren't casting?

Magic Items: No need to describe every one if you don't want to, especially if you already have a list somewhere (just link). This is also just a yes/no to Alucard being able to see them.

Limitations: Anything you don't want Alucard to notice/see?

Aura: Pink! There may come a time when it becomes black and whispy, but I'll let you know through tags or OOCly.

Thread Color(s): Also pink with pink sparkles, when "casting"/shapeshifting! It's likely always there, sort of like an Antari's would be. Even when she's not actively changing shape, the threads will be woven around her as though it's part of her very being. He can absolutely identify her whenever she looks like someone else. Nimona has 100% control over her "magic", so no knotted threads. She can breathe fire so, some red when that's happening.

Magic Items: None.

Limitations: Her canon never states if her shapeshifting is magic or just natural from birth, but it's being activated by getting a tattoo here - so Alucard will probably never be able to figure it out either.

Muse Name: Velvet Crowe

Aura: Dark, think Osaron, smoky and somewhat thick. That left arms of hers, it'll be the thickest no matter what.

Thread Color(s): Black, with maybe hints of red. This is also constant, as Velvet is not human, but a creature consumed by negative emotions. When using various elemental artes, he might see a hint of related color. The darkness is there without help from the tattoo, while the elemental artes rely on it. The darkness is also knotted most of the time, as it's not generally something she tries to use, it's just there - leaking out. The only time it seems to be controlled, even a little, is when her daemon arm is activated. Elemental is 100% controlled.

Um, if she ever eats anyone, and he's around, I'll describe that for you. Yeah.

Magic Items: Nothing, for now.

Limitations: Nah.

Feel free to play around with this as you'd want to make it fit more in with what would make sense for your canon but my initial reaction based on your description!
Aura: Astarion's aura would be blood red and pitch black for his vampirism with specs of gold, as a nod to his elvish heritage. I would imagine it would be a pretty stark contrast, as the vampirism would be dank and the gold would be more ethereal--like the dazzle of the sun coming down through a canopy of trees.

Thread Color(s): Astarion's threads are probably a tangled mess because he has a lot of potential but doesn't really use it. His colors would be a reddish-orange for fire, necrotic green, and blood red. The blood red would be the least perceptible, or at least the most hidden--they are talents he'd have to become a real vampire to unlock, or would need magic items.

Magic Items: he's got a bunch as listed in the inventory section of his app. I can link it later if you need! Feel free to learn things about them, although he doesn't keep all of them on his person because they're special and from home.

Limitations: Nope, enjoy! When you get to the spoilers about his quest let's discuss again ;)

Aura: The dimmest possible teal you can imagine, like a whisper, almost like fog that trails out of him. Since Xenk is partly undead, his aura might actually shift between being visible and invisible, or just be so dim that's it hard to see.

Thread Color(s): Yellow/Gold. Solid, sparkling gold for his radiant magic thanks to Tyr. He has potential for other elements, and likely a skill at necrotic (green) magic, but he won't ever use it. (Haha, unless...?)

As far as Xenk's curse, Alucard might get see a strange teal/red coming from the Thayan mark on his forehead. The curse affects him all over, but it centers there.

Magic Items: Xenk's daggersword is enchanted! He can throw it and draw it back using radiant magic. The blade has some words inlaid in Celestial, neither virtue nor blade shall break, so it was very likely enchanted and blessed by a Tyrian Cleric.

Limitations: None at all, go nuts!
